The always brilliant Congresswoman Maxine Waters is at it again, declaring sequestration will cost the U.S. 170 million jobs!
That seems just a little high given there are only 157 million jobs in the U.S. (Civilian Labor Force + about 2 million military jobs):
Even more amazing than Mrs. Waters advanced knowledge of mathematics and economics, is that she consistently receives more than 70% of the vote in California's 35th district. Truly astonishing.

It's a dark day for the rule of law, the principles this country was founded on and anyone who believed President Obama's bullshit "Change we can believe in" line. ---------------------------- Why Didn't Anyone Get Pinched at HSBC? by Jonathan Weil

It’s more of the same at the Justice Department today. HSBC Holdings, the big British bank, admitted to committing crimes, agreed to pay $1.9 billion, and will avoid prosecuti...

From the Can't Make This Up department, the 96-year old former governor of Arizona, Raul Castro, was made to sit in the sweltering Arizona heat for 30 minutes, because of a medical procedure he had the previous day. Mr. Castro's heart procedure caused the border agent's radiation detector to go off. Apparently thinking the U.S. might be under attack by the frail former governor, Mr. Castro was then detained for 30 minutes. Even worse, they refused to let him sit in the air-conditioned car.... Regardless of what the propaganda says, this is not how a free society treats people by Simon Black
I've been in the US for a little more than 24-hours. And having flipped through the TV channels trying to figure out what useless drivel big media is passing off as 'news', I realized that I'm going to vomit if I hear the word "fair" one more time.
This concept of 'fair' seems to be dominating discussion of the US government's dismal fiscal condition. The talking heads say that it's 'fair' for wea... Continue reading ...

As you may have heard, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that anyone who is arrested can be strip searched at the whim of the police. Doesn't matter if it was a non-violent crime, if you are later proven innocent, if you were profiled or if you lack a history of arrests. In the case Florence v. Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Burlington, the Court made it clear no matter how flimsy the charges or non-violent the crime they're leaving the decision of strip searches up to the police. ... In the never-ending Greece debt crisis, the media tends to portray the Greeks as lazy and the Germans as tireless workers. Well, believe it or not, that couldn't be more wrong. According to OECD data from 2010, the Greeks rank second in Average Annual Hours Worked per Worker, behind only South Korea. The average Greek works 2,109 hours per year. Germans, on the other hand, rank 28th out of 30, working just 1,419 hours per year. In other words, Greeks work almost 50% harder than Germans. ... Continue reading ...

1913 was a dreadful year for the United States. Not only did the treacherous Federal Reserve begin operations, but also Congress and President Wilson established federal income taxes. As you'll see below, 100 years ago the initial tax rates were rational, low and uncomplicated. Unfortunately, like everything else government touches, today's tax system has become corrupt, complex and costly.

There are two voices in the mainstream media that speak the truth: Jon Stewart and Judge Napolitano. Make that one voice. The Judge was fired by Fox yesterday. Frankly, I'm surprised Fox let the Judge speak so freely and with such ebullience and alacrity regarding freedom, liberty and the pathetic state of both political parties and the people that lead them.
In this video, his last speech of his last show, he once again speaks the truth, which Fox, MSNBC and the rest of them so desperate... Continue reading ...

The big news out of Europe today, is the European Central Bank has agreed to take a haircut on the value of their Greek debt, which will hopefully lead the way to a resolution of the Greek debt crisis. The ECB will take a major write down (and loan Greece billions of more Euros) if the Greek government agrees to a 20% minimum wage cut, reduced pension payments and radically lower spending levels.
Tomorrow, the Greek leadership decides on whether to sign. If they do and this thing is resolved... Continue reading ...

Color me stunned. Gallup's latest poll asked Tea Party supporters which presidential nominees were acceptable. Inexplicably, Ron Paul got the second lowest score - just 27%, while the hypocritical, lobbying nitwit Newt Gingrich got an 82% approval. Legal Stealing by Dave in Denver
One of my themes is that the business and political elite are stealing money from the middle class and nothing is being done about it by the people voted in office who are in charge of enforcing Rule of Law. Obama was elected overwhelmingly on his promise to clean up DC and restore some semblance of Constitutional-based justice in this country. He has failed miserably. In fact, I see no evidence that he's even made any attempt to honor his campaign promises.

How to Explain Greece to a Complete Idiot/Politician by Simon Black
Let's pretend for a moment that Greece is a human being. I'll call him George.
George is a hairdresser and makes $40,000 per year. George has limited assets. He has zero savings, no precious metals, and is way underwater on his mortgage. His credit card debt is over $100,000, and his bare minimum living expenses are $45,000 annually, over 10% more than he makes. George's credit is pitiful, and he cannot obtain any more new loan... Boots on the ground in Egypt - trading one dictator for another by Simon Black
Revolution.
It's a funny word when you think about it. In political terms,
'revolution' conjures images of heroes battling tyrants, of all-out
forcible insurrection in the name of freedom and change.
From
a celestial perspective, however, 'revolution' denotes one complete
orbit of a planetary body around its center, as in the earth's
revolution around the sun. In other words, after a revolution, you end

Our country was founded on the principle of not getting involved in foreign wars. It wasn't a policy of isolation as so many republican friends argue. Rather, it was a desire to trade and be friends with all foreign lands but not choose sides and get caught up in the peculiarities and complexities of local politics.

Matt Taibbi knocks it out of the park again, with his expose' of fraudulent emergency Fed loans to housewives of Wall Street bankers. I've been calling for a shutdown of the Fed for five years, because they're flat-out killing the middle-class in this country. Popping the Qaddafi Zit by Andrew Sullivan
If Qaddafi survives and even regains control of much of the country,
the temptation will be to ratchet up military pressure. Reflexive war
mongers like McCain and Lieberman will always fight for another war in
the name of good versus evil. And have no doubt that a man like Romney
will cite Qaddafi's survival as part of a critique of Obama's
"weakness". That political dynamic can often lead to the temptation of a
covert war, surreptitiously arming... Continue reading ...

The minority of locals that support the U.S. military's actions are terrified of showing support for fear of Taliban retaliation. What has really changed in 10 years?
