Posted by Randall A Reinwasser on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, In : Energy
Not really, at least if you compare the cost here vs other major economies.  Besides Russia, fuel costs are significantly below the other 9 countries surveyed:

$9.29/Gallon of Gas

Posted by Randall A Reinwasser on Monday, April 2, 2012, In : Energy
Anyone renting a car these days will want to make sure they're bringing it back with a full tank of gas.  The Hertz rental office in Fountain Hills, AZ  is gouging their customers for $9.29/gallon if they don't bring it back full.  That is legalized stealing.

Which Energy Source Causes the Most Deaths? Hint, it Ain't Nuclear.

Posted by Randall A Reinwasser on Monday, March 28, 2011, In : Energy
If you factor in pollution, mining accidents and installation casualties Coal is, by far, the most hazardous energy source we use.  Oil, biofuel, peat and natural gas round out the top 5.  At the very bottom of the list is nuclear energy.  If used wisely (i.e. don't build on a fault line, in a low-lying area) nuclear power is a safe and clean energy source.  As you probably know, nuclear energy emits zero green house gasses and can be used as "baseload" power (24/7 energy production) unlike s...

Safe Nuclear Power Is In Our Future, Thorium May Revolutionize the Energy Industry

Posted by Randall A Reinwasser on Monday, March 21, 2011, In : Energy
I've read a little bit about Thorium over the years but had no idea we were so close to having functioning reactors.  For the good of mankind, lets hope the Chinese succeed with this technology.  As you read this, just think how pathetic it is that the lack of political leadership in the U.S. let this technology slip away.

Learning About Geothermal Energy

Posted by Randall A Reinwasser on Friday, November 12, 2010, In : Energy
Geothermal 101

Geothermal energy refers to the power generated using heat from the Earth’s core. It is considered renewable energy because this energy is essentially capturing the nearly infinite heat which is generated by the ongoing process at the molten core of our planet. According to the Geothermal Energy Association, the heat continuously flowing from the core of the Earth is estimated to be equivalent to 42,000 gigawatts (GW) of power (20+ times today’s global electricity gen...
