Wow, this would suck!
Losing Bet Not a Fantasy Come True By Christopher Burbach, Omaha World-Herald
Those who think their fantasy football league is hard-core need to check out Spud Mann's new tattoo.
It's
a sparkly-horned, red-maned unicorn leaping to kick a football over a
rainbow. There's a little red heart on the unicorn's haunch. Beneath the
fanciful scene, Mann's thigh reads, “FANTASY LOSER.”
“It's pretty epic, I'll tell you what,” said Mann, who earned the tattoo by finishing las...

That dubious honor belongs to President Obama. Speaking at the Council of Jobs and Competitiveness, President Obama said U.S. companies shouldn't worry about inflation if they're planning on expanding their business.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, the cost of nearly every commodity has gone through the roof. Since July 2010, here is the percentage rise in a variety of commodities:

This is a persuasive and heartbreaking article by GQ Magazine on the dire consequences playing football can have on a person. In this month's issue of GQ, writer Jeanne Marie Laskas describes the tragic life of former NFL star Fred McNeill. After playing football, Fred McNeill became a star lawyer but soon fell victim to severe dementia.
The People v Football by Jeanne Marie Laskas
There was a time when Fred was brilliant. He started law school during
his last year with the Vikings, studyin... Continue reading ...

Martha, Clarence, the Big Misunderstanding and Me
By Doug Hornig, Casey Research
In this season of political madness, where taxpayers are being asked
to bail out gigantic financial institutions that made bad bets to the
tune of billions upon billions of dollars, a falsified financial
disclosure statement may seem like small potatoes indeed. But it isn’t
when the perp sits on the highest court in the land.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas filed a false financial statement. Not o...

From the You Can't Make This Stuff Up Department:
The younger Mr. Qaddafi blamed Islamic radicals and Libyans in exile for
the uprising. He offered a vague package of reforms in his televised
speech, potentially including a new flag, national anthem and
confederate structure.
Since all the upholsterers are busy protesting, I suppose Qaddafi will have to channel his inner Betsy Ross and start sewing a new flag himself. Here's the current Libyan flag, the only flag in the world with just one ... Continue reading ...

"I'm just trying to balance my budget,” Walker told the New York Times.
“To those who say why didn't I negotiate on this? I don't have anything
to negotiate with. We don't have anything to give. Like practically
every other state in the country, we're broke. And it's time to pay up.” - Scott Walker, Wisconsin Governor
Like most states around the country, Wisconsin has a massive budget deficit. To plug the hole, newly elected Governor Scott Walker has proposed taking away the public u... Continue reading ...
Here at Casey Research, our view of the Great Depression of the 1930s
is a little different from that of most people. In our eyes, Franklin
Roosevelt wasn’t a hero, he was a villain. Nearly everything he did
served to extend and deepen the economic downturn.
With the exception of supporting the 21st Amendment for the repeal of
Prohibition, Roosevelt’s involvement in the economy was an unmitigated
disaster. But in popular memory, that failure ...

Pierre Lassonde is the chairman of Franco Nevada, a mining royalty company. I just read an interview with him, where he disclosed the details of his first royalty investment in 1985:
...the very first royalty I bought was on Gold Strike in 1985. I paid $2
million for a 500,000-ounce Resource. Barrick bought the property a year
later, started drilling, and ended up finding over 50 million ounces
of gold. To date, that royalty has paid out over $600 million, and by
the time it's finishe... Continue reading ...
The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security - Janet Napolitano - just told congress that the U.S. might be facing the greatest threat of terrorist attacks since 9/11:
And in some ways, the threat today may be at its most heightened state since the attacks nearly 10 years ago.
We should be afraid ... right?
Well, as I've repeatedly noted,

This short, fun to watch video presents the question: If you had a safe that was not to be opened for 10 years, would you rather fill it with $1,400 in cash or 1 ounce of pure gold?

Cash buyers represented more than half of all transactions in the

real-estate portal Zillow.com. In the fourth quarter of 2006, they

The percentage of buyers in Phoenix paying cash hit 42% in 2010—more

Stephen Wiltshire from London is a star among savants. Stephen is autistic. He did not speak his first words "pencil" and "paper" until he was 5. Yet, when he was 11 he drew a perfect aerial view of London after only one helicopter ride. For this film we're testing the "Living camera" in Rome.

A dear friend who is fighting and overcoming severe depression wrote a touching story describing his ongoing battle. If you or someone you care for has depression you might be inspired by his story.
I wake up every day with ringing
in my ears. Some days it is worse than other days. I don’t mind, as
getting out of bed is an accomplishment. I suffer from depression, and
it almost cost me my life.

If you think the only way to make the big bucks is to become a Wall Street titan, CEO, athlete, or actor, think again. Apparently, it pays really well to be an oppressive dictator who terrorizes his country with U.S. backing.
Experts say the wealth of the Mubarak family was built largely from
military contracts during his days as an air force officer. He
eventually diversified his investments through his family when he became
president in 1981. The family's net worth ranges from $40 bill... Continue reading ...

How Many Times will FOX mention “Brett Favre” on TV during the Game? Over/Under 2.5
What Color will the Gatorade be that is dumped on the Head Coach of the Winning Super Bowl Team?

In case anyone actually thinks the republican party is a bastion of conservative ideals, have a read of this speech made by republican Senator Chuck Grassley in 2007:
Mr. GRASSLEY: Mr. President, the current law is that we
have a statutory limit on the amount of money the Federal Government can
borrow, and that has to be reconsidered from time to time. The legal
limit applies to the money borrowed from individuals, private
investors–such as banks and pension funds–as well as money borr...

The U.S. food stamp program, now called SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), had 43.6 million participants in November 2010. That's a 5.3 million (14.3%) increase over last year. If you just listened to main stream media or watched the stock market you'd think everything was going great and the 2008/2009 recession was in the rear-view mirror. And it is, if you're a Wall Street banker, corporate executive or have a large net worth invested in stocks, commodities or precious meta... Continue reading ...

This is cold. Antarctica on a bad day, cold. Three years ago, a British immigration officer who wanted to get rid of his wife, secretly added her name to a terrorist watch list while she was visiting family in Pakistan. When she tried to board the plane to come back home, she was not allowed to get on the plane.
This guy deserves to have his jersey retired in the A-Hole Hall of Fame.
